Project Description

Synonymous with quality we were delighted to be instructed by GVA to the latest of the Leven Car Company’s showrooms. Leven are specialist in the luxury car market supplying manufacturers like Rolls Royce and Aston Martin. The addition of KIA, Lotus, Suzuki and Mitsubishi broadens an already impressive range of cars available at this premium Edinburgh showroom. GVA selected AGM through competitive tender and project managers John and Kevin supported ourselves onsite, minimised disruptions and expedited delivery of this project for our client. John and Kevin again demonstrate that GVA is not just the largest independent commercial property agent in the UK but are a multidiscipline property consultancy who make contracting easy. However, the site was not without its challenges. At the beginning of the project we found the main channel for electrical containment to floor boxes and sockets did not come up so easily. We had to think on our feet, change our method and bring the Brokk 90 onto site. This specialist demolition robot was operated by Ed Core, specialist core cutting company, and worked through the night to break out the channel. Thomson tiling could then lay the new showroom floors and get us back on programme. On installing ventilation and fire-lining onto the offices we discovered a precarious support to a floor, structural engineers, Curtins, were called upon to design a flitch plate for Hepburn Fabrication services to manufacture which AGM fitted and the works were made safe. Site management, good programming and control of subcontractors kept work moving and delivered a successful project across 4 sets of specifications and 4 sets of nominated contractors for 4 showrooms. Special commendation must also go to Eoin Clark who is studying to be Quantity Surveyor whilst working on site. We were able to leave a great many tasks in his capable and have heard nothing but good reports from our client and employer. Thank you to everyone involved in the project across all trades, services and suppliers. The works were programmed between May and August 2018 and we are pleased to announce their completion.
